Premarital Counseling

Coaching by Experienced Leaders

Overall Goal:

Have the engaged couple begin to communicate about key topics they will face in marriage. This is done in a coaching environment with experienced leaders who can help the couples identify areas of strength, challenge, and steps to take in building a God-honoring marriage.

Time Frame:

A minimum of 8 hours is required to receive a discount on a state of Texas marriage license. This can be distributed out over various meetings, and can include videos watched outside of meetings.

Upon Completion:

Once the 8 hours is completed, the instructor needs to notify the church who can print off an approved certificate from: https://www.twogetherintexas.com/UI/HomePage.aspx

Steps to Follow When You Discover Pre-Marital Counseling is Desired:

1. Reply to the request within 24 hours if at all possible. (A simple "Got it and will get back with you." will do.)

2. Gather information from the couple (i.e. wedding date, where they live, times available, and if they have a particular couple in mind that they'd like to meet with).

3. Contact a qualified couple and ask them if they are willing and available to meet with the engaged couple. Be sure to spell out any time/curriculum expectations at this time, so that they know what they are saying "yes" to.

4. Assign the mentoring couple to the engaged couple.

5. Arrange a time to "hand off" the engaged couple to the mentoring couple.

6. Check in with the mentoring couple occasionally to see how things are going. (Mentoring couples should initiate communication upline as well.)

7. Do a post-marital check up within 6-12 months after the wedding.
